湿膜厚度测定一般是涂覆者用于指导施工人员确定获得预期干膜厚度需要涂覆的规定涂料用量。检测湿膜的厚度所需要的测量仪器是：湿膜厚度轮规和湿膜厚度梳规两种。对湿膜进行检测的优点在于可以在涂覆过程中检查和改正不适当的涂膜厚度。如果施工人员知道了湿膜厚度，当以此数据乘以涂料固体分的体积百分率，就可估算出干膜厚度，或者施工人员也可以通过小面积施工的涂料用量，结合产品说明书的推荐数据估算出干膜厚度。

测定环氧地坪漆干膜厚度的重要性在于保证涂覆达到规定的厚度，避免由于不适当的厚度导致涂层的过早失效，对于地坪涂装尤其如此。干膜厚度的测量必须在涂膜完全干燥后，采用干膜测厚仪进行测定。常用于地坪漆的干膜厚度检测仪器有破坏性测厚仪和卡尺。对于涂膜厚度的要求一般如下：所有厚度测定点的平均值不应低于规定干膜厚度的90%;未达到规定干膜厚度的测定点数目不应超过测定点总数的10%。当没能达到规定厚度者应进行如下处理：合格率低于80%，需全面补涂;合格率为80%-90%，应根据情况做局部补涂。
